LGBTQ+ Affirming Telehealth Therapy for Texas Clients
Being LGBTQ+ shouldn't mean having to educate your therapist, brace for a bad reaction, or wonder whether your identity is going to become the whole conversation when it isn't even what brought you in. You should be able to talk about anxiety, work stress, a relationship, or a bad week without your therapist treating your identity as the explanation for everything, or as something to tiptoe around.
I offer LGBTQ+ affirming therapy for adults across Texas through secure telehealth. Affirming means exactly what it sounds like: your identity isn't something I need explained, tolerated, or fixed. It's part of who you are, and it's treated that way from the first session on.
I work with people navigating:
Coming out, at any age or life stage, including later-in-life realizations
Identity exploration around sexual orientation and/or gender
Gender-affirming care navigation, including the emotional weight of the process itself
Family or religious rejection connected to identity
Dating and relationship concerns specific to LGBTQ+ experience
Internalized shame or self-doubt connected to identity
The general stuff too, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, that isn't about identity at all, but deserves a therapist who still gets the context you live in
What we might work on together:
Making decisions about coming out, or not, on your own timeline and terms
Working through family reactions, rejection, or the grief of a relationship that changed because of who you are
Navigating religious or cultural backgrounds that clash with your identity
Sorting out gender-affirming care questions and the mental load that comes with the process
Building relationships and dating with more clarity and less self-doubt
Addressing anxiety, depression, or stress without your identity being treated as the automatic explanation
Untangling shame or self-criticism that was never actually yours to carry
How I work:
I'm not LGBTQ+ myself, and I'm not going to pretend I know what it feels like to live your specific experience. What I bring instead is real training, ongoing education, and a genuine commitment to getting the details right rather than assuming I already know them. That means I ask rather than assume, I use the language you use for yourself, and I take it seriously when something in a previous therapy experience, or in life more broadly, made you brace for judgment walking in here.
You're never going to have to justify your identity to me, explain basic terminology, or manage my reaction to who you are. That's not your job in this room. Your job is to work on whatever brought you here, whether that's directly about identity or not.
For anyone curious about the clinical side: I draw on Meaning-Based/existential therapy, EFT (attachment-focused), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, tailored to what a session calls for.
